How To Delete Your ConvertKit Account Permanently
If you want to delete your ConvertKit account, you’ll be surprised to find out there is no option on their dashboard to do this, which I find is damn right rude, odd and unprofessional.
When I wanted to delete my account, I clicked on the help button to chat with someone, but that someone was an AI Chatbot! and it didn’t know what the heck I was talking about. Talk about frustration!!! arrghhh!!!
Responses From ConvertKit
So then I clicked on the ‘talk to a person’ button. Hoping to speak to someone straight away, I had to wait nearly an hour for this response:
So glad you reached out!
You’ve got a great question that needs some extra expertise, so I’m sending it up to our senior team, who are wizards at this stuff. 🪄
They usually answer questions within 24 hours, so you should hear back from them soon. In the meantime, if anything else pops up or you have any more questions, don’t hesitate to ping me! I’m happy to help in any way I can.
Rest assured, your message is already waiting for them like a hot cup of coffee, and they’ll be in touch ASAP. Thanks for your patience and understanding!
What a joke, all I wanted to do was delete my account!
Another hour went by then I got an email saying this:
Greetings, from the Senior Support Team. Thank you for being so patient. I’m happy to assist you with your concern. In order to ensure that we are deleting the correct account, could you kindly confirm the login email associated with it? Once we have that, we will promptly initiate the deletion process.
Looking forward to resolving this for you!
I replied with the email address, and the reply I got was this:
Thank you for your request – We’ve forwarded this to our legal team for review prior to processing.
You should receive an email from them once it has been processed. Please wait at least 30 days to complete your account deletion request.
30 DAYS!! AND A LEGAL TEAM TO REVIEW, OMG!!
Why Delete Your ConvertKit Account?
Here are the reasons why I deleted my account:
I respect companies that make it easy to delete or deactivate your account, but I don’t respect this company, that’s for sure. I moved my subscribers to a respectable company, EmailOctopus (they have a delete account button!)
Step-by-step Guide To Delete Your ConvertKit Account
If you’ve read the above, you know what to do; I know, what a faff! But here is what you have to do if you haven’t read it:
OPTION ONE
I eventually found an email you can use: [email protected], but you will probably wait the same time as me going through the other route.
OPTION TWO
Click on the help button in your drop-down menu on the top right of the dashboard.
Click on the chat with someone (AI chatbot) and ask for account deletion. It probably won’t understand.
Then click on Talk to a person. They will respond to your request when they feel like it!
TIP
Make sure you have everything you need before deleting; I don’t mean just exporting your subscribers but the way you worded your forms, landing pages, when newsletters were sent out, what was sent in the newsletters, the stats etc, as this will make it easier when you move platforms.
Conclusion
I know you were looking for an easy option to delete your account, but there is no easy way around it but it will get deleted eventually! If you’re looking for a simple, more cost-effective and more respectful company, try Email Octopus. They offer a generous free account for up to 2500 subscribers, and they have a delete button if you want to delete your account! Check my review HERE.
