7 Top Ways to Boost Sales on Etsy 2024
BOOST SALES ON YOUR ETSY SHOP
I wanted more traffic to my Etsy shop, so I booked a 1-hour appointment to speak to an Etsy advisor on how to get the best out of my shop. It’s easy to learn for yourself and quickly navigate online, but you’ll be surprised how much you can learn from actually speaking to someone! Obviously, the Etsy staff know what they are talking about. So I thought I’d share the top 7 ways to boost sales on your Etsy shop.

minimum 5 pictures
When I first uploaded my images for my shop, it was one per product. I was so excited to have a shop I wanted it up and running as soon as possible. With rushing, you tend to miss things, and it isn’t until you look back at your item description that you think, OMG, what a mess, lol.
Make sure each product has at least 5 pictures. I know it’s time-consuming, but it will be worth it. So here is a list of recommended listings to include:
- Lifestyle shot – Your item in its natural habitat.
- Scale picture – A photo that visually communicates how big (or small) your product is.
- A group shot – Your product clustered together.
- Packaging shot – An image of your product’s packaging
- Process shot – Your product being made
- A studio shot – Your item by itself in front of a plain backdrop
You can take great pictures with your phones these days, but I say you’re better off having a proper camera. If you do use your phone, switch to grid mode in your settings. You will be able to align your photos so much better.
A popular camera with top reviews is the Canon EOS 4000D DSLR Camera. You can take pictures of your product and blur the background out! It’s a smart camera, so you can use it as a phone (as in share on the go).

I use Canva (it’s FREE) to optimize my images. You can get it to the size you want, add filters to make your products look better, and add text and borders.

13 tags
Each tag you add is an opportunity to match with a shopper’s search, so spread them around and add some variety! You should use multi-word phrases and target long-tail keywords (ex: instead of “diamond ring”, use “natural diamond ring”). Use EverBee for the best tags!
2 categories
Categories on Etsy act like tags, and adding more specific categories creates more opportunities for your listings to get found. You will see this option in the Listings Details section. The third item down, you’ll see Categories.
3 attributes
Attributes also act as tags and can help your item match with a shopper’s search. You can find them from the listing edit page, just under the category once you’ve selected it. The primary colours and what occasion is it for.
Enticing description
A description should be around 250 words (with keywords). Sellers who have clear and informative descriptions tend to be more successful.
Your description could include what type of packaging you use. Is it eco-friendly?
You can also add your despatch time; even though there is an extra section for this it’s good to have in your description, too, so your customer can read everything at once and be more inclined to order from you.
Make sure you add the link (URL) of your shop in the description. Even though your customer is already looking at your product, don’t let them float away to another Etsy shop or back to their search results. You want them to look at your other products in your shop.
Instead, give them a link to learn more about you, see your entire shop, check out a shop section, or even link to a search within your shop.
SEO FOR ETSY LISTINGS
TOP TIP:

NEW PRODUCTS
Another thing the man mentioned was to keep uploading new products. I suppose it depends on what you’re selling because I was thinking I can’t get things out of fresh air! But then I thought the idea is good as it keeps you motivated to make more products!
HOLIDAYS
Keep up-to-date with holidays throughout the year, for example, Father’s Day. Promote your products at least 6-8 weeks before the actual holiday. Add holiday words in your product description or in your tags.
FREE DELIVERY
Everyone loves free delivery, and he suggested I do this, which meant I would have to include this in the product price. He said shops that have free delivery do really well! So give it a whirl.
HOW TO SAVE TIME WITH ETSY POSTAL LABELS
Instead of having to write each customer’s address on postage labels, link your Etsy site to Royal Mail Click & Drop (this is for the UK). There is an option on the site to do this. Every time you get a sale, when you sign in to your Click and Drop account, all the info is there. It’s so much easier!
